RE: State of Play Megathread | Feb 12 SoP Announced - Mr EliteL - Feb 11th, 2026

10PM for my time tomorrow, there's a possibility I'll watch it live as it's not starting at 11PM, but if it becomes too boring to watch I may just go to bed early as I need to be up for Friday morning.

There's currently nothing on my radar for PS5, unless there's something I'm forgetting. Code Vein 2's out which I don't have and not expecting any DLC for that here.

RE: State of Play Megathread | Feb 12 SoP Announced - Dragon Lord - Feb 13th, 2026

Lots of time wasted on games we've already seen a lot about, as per the usual with these SoPs. I'm surprised they didn't spend more time on Marathon tbh, though even a few seconds is too much with how much we've already had to see if it. I really wish these things were used purely for new game announcements and nothing else.

I did forget about Beast of Reincarnation though. Still looking really interesting. No wonder the Pokemon games have been such slop lately, Gamefreak spending their funds on good looking shit like this.

Good opening with the announcement of a new Kena game. I still haven't played Bridge of Spirits, but I've heard nothing but really good things about it and the second one is looking pretty good. Might have to finally play it. The only thing that has really turned me off of it is that I've seen some people say it's "Pikmin-like", and Pikmin has always looked dreadfully boring to me, so that's the only reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on playing it yet.

Seeing Konami reveal a new anime-styled JRPG was definitely unexpected. I thought they forgot they used to make JRPGs once upon a time. Figured the Soukiden remasters were the best thing we were going to get out of them in terms of JRPGs any time soon. Excited for it though, right up my alley. Probably the best reveal of the SoP for me personally.

Brigandine Abyss is a game I'll keep an eye on. I haven't played any of the other games in the series, though I do think I have one that was released on Switch. But of course any game with an anime aesthetic is something that will be on my list by default.

Mina the Hollower is of course on my list because creators of Shovel Knight (which was a top tier game for anyone who still hasn't played it by now) + heavy LoZ: Oracle of Ages/Seasons inspirations = a must play. Though I can't really consider it a good part of this SoP because once again we've already known about this game.

I like Castlevania, but man something looks really off with that game. It's like they tried super hard to copy Bloodstained's art style, but did the "you can copy my homework, but change it just enough not to be obvious" thing and it ended up looking like a cheap mobile game instead. I might still give it a try, depending on how much they want for it. $20-$30 I'll try it probably, anything more than that and it's on the "wait until a significant sale" list.

So other than a few crumbs here and there, yet another extremely disappointing State of Play. At least those few crumbs look to be really good (Kena and Rev. Noir).

RE: State of Play Megathread | Feb 12 SoP Announced - Moonface - Feb 13th, 2026

I really enjoyed this State of Play; no singular game was given too much time to drag the pacing down and there was a good variety of stuff shown, although I do agree with you @Dragon Lord that some games felt put in for the sake of it rather than showing off anything meaningful. Games that come to mind for that would be RE9, 007, and Pragmata (although the last one was at least saved by revealing a demo). RE9 is the worse one for me because while I get that RE9 is showing up in anything and everything because it comes out soon and Capcom are understandably giving it a hard marketing push, it's bordering on becoming another Deathloop situation for me where I'm just wanting the game to come out so it can stop showing up in presentations with nothing to say except "buy me".

That aside, my thoughts on certain games shown:
  • Kena: Scars of Kosmora
Forgot entirely about Kena, so to see a sequel announced was a great surprise for the start of the show. To address your concern on it being a "Pikmin-like" @Dragon Lord, I wouldn't say it is because the little companions are used for abilities in combat rather than you just stand there and command them to do all the fighting. The combat can get really tough on the higher difficulties and it took me as long to beat the final boss in this game as it's taken me to beat some bosses in Souls games. Sweat

  • Control Resonant
I'm hoping this game is good, but this one is absolutely a wait until I watch streamers play it to see whether it's worth my time or what price I'm willing to pay for it. Control was good but the ending was terrible and I didn't care for saving the main character's brother in that game and he would be forgettable as a character if not for being a plot device, so I can't say I'm interested to be playing as him in the sequel.

  • Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition
I'd seen rumors about this one, and didn't care much when I was reading them because I expected it would just be a straight port and nothing else. Getting every version and a ton of bonus content is awesome though and I'll grab this at some point just to check out the stuff I've never seen before. Whether I touch the main game is up in the air because while I enjoy it, damn can it be painful with how difficult it can be from a lack of playtesting. x.x

  • Star Wars: Galactic Racer
I don't care for Star Wars, but being able to take people down in races and stuff reminds me of Burnout so this one caught my interest a little bit. Hopefully it's a good racer that stands on its own merits and doesn't try to rely on its IP to appear better than it is.

  • Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2
I'm happy to see this just because finally MGS4 isn't stuck on the PS3 anymore. I always disliked that it was the only MGS game that was difficult to get access to for anyone who wants to play through all the games in the series.

  • Untitled John Wick Game
Could be good, especially if you get full freedom to use the environment and such in fights like how the trailer and the movies do.

  • God of War
Ooh I was not expecting a Greek trilogy remake and a shadow drop of a new game! I never played the original trilogy so depending on what direction the remakes take I might play those whenever they eventually come out. Sucks there was nothing to show but I don't mind if a developer wants to just state future plans for a dormant IP rather than staying radio silent for years on it and leaving fans wondering if the IP is dead or not.

RE: State of Play Megathread | Feb 12 SoP Announced - Mr EliteL - Feb 13th, 2026

Did watch most of SoP live and I tired to hold on, but once Marathon came on I had to turn off, I was already slowly fading into sleep before, so I missed the end.

Though there was a few that did get my attention slightly. Brigandine Abyss was one, I need to finish one full playthrough from The Legend of Runersia first though. Crimson Moon, but I doubt I'll get that. The John Wick game, the films always felt like a video game so there finally being an actual game is cool. Rayman, aw damn that almost got me, I was so ready for a brand new game, but an anniversary for Rayman 1 is good as well.

*sigh* Project Windless, no thanks I don't want to play as a bird-man.

RE: State of Play Megathread | Feb 12 SoP Announced - Dragon Lord - Feb 14th, 2026

I've also never played the original God of War games, so I'm kind of interested in the remakes. Though that new game they announced, the... prequel thingy, looks kind of... bad. Like I'm a huge fan of Metroidvania games, but between the extremely meh looking art style and how stiff and uninspired the combat looked in the trailer, I'm not really sure if it's a game I want to invest time into. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but something really throws me off about it (probably the art style as I mentioned).

I think $30 is a little too much for it for me. I might wait to see if it ever goes on sale for a more attractive price, like $10-$15.

It's better than the other rumor I saw of Rayman Legends getting a remake. That game doesn't need one for gameplay or visuals, so the only changes it could get that would be worthwhile is new content and at that point I'd rather just get a new game. Errm

This one was only an enjoyable reveal for me because I watched this SoP through another streamer, and one viewer commented the final boss is Peter Griffin and another said you play as Foghorn Leghorn and imagining that chicken man going around doing the "I say I say boy!" stuff would be majestic. XD

I'm still on the fence with Sons of Sparta too, although it seems to be pretty meaty if nothing else because a streamer I watch has been playing it every stream since the minute it dropped and by this point has probably poured about 20 hours into it so far and I don't get the impression they're coming up on the end of the game yet, so it's probably about a 30+ hour game? Unsure

Edit: Nevermind, I overestimated how much time they spent on it. They just beat it and came in at 19 hours.
