RE: Live Action Zelda Movie in Development - Karo - Nov 17th, 2025

Personally I would of wanted a Majora Mask LEgend of Zelda movie they could do so much with that one!!!!! but I am hopeful for this one. TBH I was kinda surprised that it was going to be live action and I wonder if the person that posted the video will get in trouble for a non-disclosure agreement or anything?

I believe the videos were from people who aren't part of the production and just so happened to manage to get close enough to capture footage. Given the scenes are being done in bumfuck nowhere the production might have assumed nobody would be nearby to do this.

I don't know if these leaks pushed Nintendo to do this now or not, but on the Nintendo Today app they put out a few stills that are probably from this shoot: https://www.reddit.com/r/zelda/comments/1ozhapa/all_filming_starts_for_the_liveaction_film_of_the/
I didn't catch this in the images because the quality isn't great, but saw someone in the comments pointing out this detail on Zelda's outfit which I think is really cool.

You know I never considered that someone could just get close enough to take a picture to a production I honestly always figured there would be security to shoo you far away from ever approaching, but to be fair I have never been near anywhere that was filming anything?

That is really cool they really are kinda nailing the the whole BOTW like Zelda outfit I really think with that detail!

Probably harder in remote areas like this because if there's nowhere high to view it from a good distance then you need to rely on foliage for cover; if that isn't an option either then I don't think it would be feasible to get close to movie productions in such places. Urban areas are a lot tougher to keep private because closing a street doesn't necessarily mean you can have every building evacuated from top to bottom and can likely only get floors that are within the frame to be emptied out. That's how there was leaked footage of the upcoming live-action Spider-Man movie recently because it was being done in downtown Manhattan and there were plenty of people up in the office buildings able to look down on it.

Looking back at the images again, I'm wondering what relation Link is going to have to Zelda in the movie. In games like OoT he's just some random bastard in the woods who happens to wander over to Hyrule Castle at the right moment in time, whilst in BotW he's assigned to Zelda as her personal knight and follows her around because of that. The still of them both together would fit more to the latter relation, but it could just be a moment in the movie where both characters are together but started off unaware of each other. Hmm
