So, I'm sure everyone is aware of a little thing Nvidia revealed the other day called DLSS 5. Rightfully so, reception to it even within the game industry has been overwhelmingly negative, because of its use of AI to "upscale" games, but what it really does is just straight up change things entirely. One of the examples on the official website shows Grace from RE9, but if you use the before/after sliders, you can easily see her facial features change to airbrushed AI slop that doesn't match up to her non-DLSS 5 appearance. Then there's the background details, where lightbulbs get muted, fog is removed, and more that just completely changes the tone and atmosphere a game is going for. The best part was Nvidia coming out against the criticism to say "this isn't Gen AI, this is Gen AI+". Imbeciles. Rolleyes

I've been keeping an eye on the drama myself. NVIDIA is just continuously shooting themselves in the foot and they just won't stop. The best part is that some of their higher ups are legit arguing with random internet people who are criticizing them.

I haven't seen anything from the higher ups in response to the criticism except the one I mentioned prior, but having seen other cases of high-end business folks making their own noose on social media (see: the McDonald's CEO and his "product") it amazes me how many of the people in these sort of positions conduct themselves on social media like most of us probably acted on forums in our teens.
