RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Maniakkid25 - Apr 21st, 2025 Xenosaga 2: Jenseits von Gut und Böse If you're wondering, the subtitle is just the German name for the book "Beyond Good and Evil" (not related to the game "Beyond Good and Evil"). So, I was talking with Karo about me finishing off my PS3 digital purchase list, and Xenogears got brought up since it was one of the games I bought on that list a long while back, and we got to talking about the entire Xeno series and how absolutely weird it is from a development perspective. And for those that don't know, yes, Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade are all spiritually linked thanks to the man at the helm of them all: Tetsuya Takahashi. He is credited as either a director or author of all the games in the "series". Anyway, it got me to searching on eBay for the two episodes of Xenosaga I do not have (I already have episode 1). While Episode three is pretty firmly outside of my price range right now ($200 MINIMUM!), I managed to snag a copy of 2 for only 50 bucks, which is a steal for a cult classic vintage game like Xenosaga. It even has a game manual and everything. ...sure, it was an impulse buy, but it's been on my list for a while, now. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Moonface - May 9th, 2025 Doom: The Dark Ages (PS5) Decided to pre-order it from Amazon just now and forgot I had gift card balance left, so I only had to spend $40 instead of $70. Hopefully it comes on release day like it says it will so I don't have to worry too much about avoiding spoilers.
RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Maniakkid25 - May 11th, 2025 Sword of the Black Stone (PC) So the almighty Algorithm has blessed me with content, once again. Randomly scrolling through my recommends on Youtube showed me this thumbnail: ![]() Needless to say, I needed to know more. When I found out the game was 2 bucks, I immediately bought it. I have a folder on Steam filled with my questionable purchases of games. I named it "This Was Probably a Mistake...", and this game was a worthy addition to this folder. It is...nothing short of glorious, honestly. In all seriousness, no hate on the dev, I loved what I saw. It has a sense of earnestness and sincerity in its jank that is adorable to see. Thank you for blessing the world with this game. I don't necessarily plan on playing it, tbh, but I did want to throw some money your way for your efforts. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Kyng - May 12th, 2025 The High School expansion for The Sims 4. So far, I've only played it for a little bit - but, I like what I'm seeing !
RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - queenzelda - May 19th, 2025 Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time [Steam]: If you played the 3DS version the story is different, but so far what I've played I like of the game. But I also enjoyed the original game anyway, so seeing it return is a treat! 💜 RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Mr EliteL - Jul 12th, 2025 Triangle Strategy (Switch eShop) Bought as I had a lot in my wallet and this was on sale. Don't know when I'm going to start playing it though. Hopefully soon. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Maniakkid25 - Jul 13th, 2025 Donkey Kong 64 (N64) and an Expansion Pak So, I didn't get any sleep, but I've had a productive night of troubleshooting. I think the problem with my N64 is my RAM expansion; I have a 3rd-party one that is exposed at the top, and I'm willing to bet it got damaged between the several moves I've made. So, I went on Mercari (eBay is full of Union Busting dipshits, so screw them until they stop being that), and looked for an expansion pak, and found one bundled with DK64. A worthy addition to my collection, so I bought the bundle (80 bucks?!), and I just need to wait for it to come to test my hypothesis. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Moonface - Jul 13th, 2025 (Jul 13th, 2025, 11:03 AM)Maniakkid25 Wrote:This made me realize DK64 isn't on NSO yet, which is surprising considering the game was part of the Wii U Virtual Console. ![]() Was it DK64 you were trying to play in the first place, or was it something else? Just curious what had you trying to get your N64 RAM expansion to work.
RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Maniakkid25 - Jul 13th, 2025 Oh, it won't play games AT ALL. The N64 RAM expansion REPLACES the original RAM cart; it doesn't ADD ON! The original RAM cart has long since been lost to time -- God only knows where it could be -- so this is my one shot. If this doesn't work, then there is something seriously internal wrong with the system, and IDK what else I can do. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Moonface - Jul 13th, 2025 Oh, I never knew that. I always thought it was something that attached to the system to offer extra RAM alongside what the system already has on board, considering the N64 wouldn't have originally been made to need users to have the ability to access and swap out the RAM inside the console.
RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Maniakkid25 - Jul 13th, 2025 Oh, no, the N64 has always had a little compartment for swapping out the RAM. Almost like they always planned on it being upgradeable. Interesting, that. There are exactly three games that will not function without the expansion pak: DK64, Majora's Mask, and Perfect Dark. Anything else will run fine, though there may be mixed results with newer games on the console. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Moonface - Jul 13th, 2025 Dang, I'd have never known or expected that. Funny how Nintendo did that for a console that long ago, yet even now it isn't exactly simple to swap out a HDD/SSD in any of the consoles of the last 3+ gens.
RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - queenzelda - Jul 15th, 2025 Switch 2 (from Best Buy), & Xenoblade Chronicles X Remaster for the Switch from off ebay. I'll have it at my house by Wednesday. I also bought Donkey Kong Bonanza for the Sitch 2. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Dragon Lord - Sep 23rd, 2025 My latest gaming purchase was the Cat Quest I & II Pawsome Pack for PS4. Unfortunately I waited a bit too long to purchase it, so it was out of stock at all retailers and I had to do a slight overpay for it on eBay, but oh well. After enjoying the games quite a bit on Steam, I really wanted to make sure I could secure the physical copy of them for PS4. I'm a bit torn on whether or not I want to buy the standalone copy of the first game on PS4 though or settle for just having the double pack. There is no standalone copy of Cat Quest II on PS4, so I had to buy the Pawsome Pack to get it. Copies of the first Cat Quest are still pretty cheap for PS4, so I'm considering getting it just for the sake of collection purposes. RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Kyng - Sep 26th, 2025 Some Civ 5 maps, so that I could play on them in my multi-player games with my sister. Since the game came out in 2010, I could get them dirt-cheap... I got about 17 of them for under £3 total .
