Unfortunately Nintendo made sure this came true. The $100 GTAVI rumors are bound to be 100% true at this point, and the sad thing is that people will still gobble it up.

I personally can't wait for the $500 GTA VI Collector's Edition.

On the bright side, some of the best and most successful games this year have been those that didn't even ask for the old $60 price tag. Expedition 33 was $50, Silksong is amazingly only $20, and Blue Prince is $30, just to name some off the top of my head. My hope is that those games at those price points create some competition on the market for the AAA publishers to strongly consider if a $70+ price tag will be viewed as not worth it by players who will instead opt to seek more value from cheaper games that are just as good or better. Of course for a juggernaut like GTA VI there's no chance any outside influence will get Rockstar to not seek an eye watering price tag, but not every game is going to survive at a $80 price tag. Hell, a lot of them can't even manage with a $60 or $70 price. Errm
