RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - Oct 22nd, 2025 Kirby Air Riders Direct #2 Announced for October 23 A second Kirby Air Riders Direct will be airing on October 23, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 12pm GMT. The Direct will last for approximately one hour; for comparison, the first Direct was 45 minutes in length. Source: Nintendo Today I've yet to watch the first Direct (I wanted to then forgot all about it) but I wondered how they would have so much to show for that Direct, so for this one to be longer and take the title for longest game dedicated Nintendo Direct yet again with a huge margin compared to the first Kirby Air Riders Direct when it broke the record for longest game dedicated Direct. RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - ShiraNoMai - Oct 22nd, 2025 I'm of the thought that this surely must contain entirely unseen/unfamiliar game content, considering Sakurai particularly went over all the basics of the game and how it compares to its previous iteration. It was honestly a really good watch, and if you're on the fence about the game at all, I do recommend it. It does not waste time; Sakurai is very good at the art of video making after vlogging his game design thoughts on his channel for the past 3 years. (Serious recommendation if you have any interest in game design and theory!) RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - Feb 5th, 2026 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase - February 5, 2026 | Summary Here's a summary of everything shown in today's Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. Where applicable, each game shown will specify whether it was announced for both Nintendo Switch systems or just for Nintendo Switch 2. ![]()
RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Mr EliteL - Feb 6th, 2026 Darn, missed this as I was set to do a later shift than normal. Huh, RE:Requiem is on Switch 2. The two amiibos actually look pretty decent for a small figurine of Leon and Grace. Bomberman Collection is the closest thing I'd get, but I barely played the Super Bomberman R I got for PS4. I did used to really enjoy some Bomberman games on the PS1, didn't touch anything earlier, though I remember playing a version of the Famicom one before. Oh wait, The Adventures of Elliot is another one, but I gotta go back and play Octopath 2 before I consider another RPG like that. RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - Feb 8th, 2026 Eh, I wouldn't say it was worth watching it live (or even fully in general really). For me it started strong with Orbitals, which I had completely forgotten about, and then the Direct just gradually declined from there. Closing the show on ports of Bethesda games was pretty flat for a last thing, but I also don't think anything in the Direct was a "wow" moment so I don't know what I'd have put at the end to close the Direct out stronger than it did. ![]() Orbitals looks fantastic and I definitely wanna get it; I do worry how well it will sell though being a co-op only game and exclusive to one system. The Adventures of Elliot is something I'll probably check out some time, since I do like Octopath 1 although I didn't actually beat it. ![]() Pragmata conceptually I still don't like, but I will say the real-time puzzle combat gameplay does look really cool. It makes me wish the creepy kid just wasn't present and you play as just the guy doing that stuff because I don't know if the gameplay alone will make me want to sit through a story that will clearly be focused heavily on the kid.
RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - Mar 2nd, 2026 Nintendo: Tune in on Tuesday, March 3 for a New Indie World Showcase A new Indie World Showcase will be airing tomorrow at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm GMT, as announced via the Nintendo Today app. I won't be keeping tabs on this due to being at work, but for anyone who might follow it or wonders what might show up, this was what was at the last Indie World Showcase back in August 2025. I didn't realize until now that Mina the Hollower had been delayed from it's October 31st release date that had been announced in that previous Indie World, so I expect that'll be showing up with a new date tomorrow. RE: General Game Chat - Moonface - May 6th, 2026 WTF?! Nintendo just out of nowhere doing a Star Fox Direct suddenly that goes live in the next couple of minutes?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePZeyh5q9R8 They apparently tweeted out about it only ten minutes ago too?!
RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Dragon Lord - May 7th, 2026 Oh hey, cool, a new Star Fox ga-- >StarFox 64 remade for the billionth time ...oh. RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - May 8th, 2026 I didn't know Star Fox 64 had been remade multiple times already, so I wasn't immediately underwhelmed by this announcement. Although, even seeing this is the third time the game is being redone in some form, I think Nintendo opted to do this over a brand new entry for a few reasons:
Also, as dumb as it looks, props to Nintendo for that V-Tuber style feature for multiplayer. I dunno how many people would use it (or even have one of the Nintendo cameras to use it in the first place) but I will always appreciate silly gimmicks/features in games that do something niche and unique, especially if it isn't forced onto people and/or affects the gameplay.
RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Dragon Lord - May 8th, 2026 I don't hate the announcement myself. Game looks amazing and it looks like it'd be an easy purchase for me if I was ever going to have a Switch 2 (unfortunately not likely any time soon). I just feel for StarFox fans that have been craving something new in the series for so many years and instead just keep getting a remake of 64 over and over again. In terms of nostalgia bait, it definitely works. I absolutely adore StarFox 64 so this remake had me drooling. I just can't justify the price of a Switch 2 just for this lone game though. RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - May 10th, 2026 Yeah, I've seen a lot of people wishing it was a brand new entry instead of 64 again, but hopefully it's like how I said above with this being like Samus Returns was followed up with Dread, unless the game performs badly enough to dissuade Nintendo from making a follow up game. The price being only $50 might help it shift units too. My concern with a new entry is whether it will be good or not. I have the impression that Nintendo have never managed to build off of 64 in a successful fashion given how little people talk about any of the other games.
RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Maniakkid25 - May 10th, 2026 Oh, believe me, people still talk about Star Fox Adventures. People either love or hate Krystal; there is no in-between. I'm actually willing to bet that is why they haven't made a game (that was canon, COMMAND!) that was actually later in the series than Assault. Then again, most of the people who like Krystal are furries, so make of that what you will... As I said when this was first announced, I can't wait to see how they fuck this up. After watching the video (something I don't usually do), I love the fact that I fucking called it; I knew they couldn't resist incorporating the mouse controls. Other than that, doing a straight remake of Star Fox 64 instead of whatever the hell Zero was supposed to be is a great idea in comparison to some of the other things they could have done. I do enjoy the fact that people are memeing on Nintendo in the comments, given that this is another attempt to capture that noatalgia bait. It's very funny. RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - May 11th, 2026 (May 10th, 2026, 11:18 PM)Maniakkid25 Wrote:Oh, I forgot all about her until you said her name... "SAY HER NAME AND, SHE APPEA--" *shot* Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, I think she was actually the first thing I saw about Star Fox anything before actual Star Fox, since I didn't own anything Nintendo growing up and barely knew about any of their IP's including LoZ. ![]() Also, apparently Zero was meant to be a retelling/reimagining of 64? I was hoping to see somewhere detailing what changes were made between the two but the only possible place could be its Fandom Wiki, and I'm not touching that ad-riddled cancer of a website with a ten foot pole. (May 10th, 2026, 11:18 PM)Maniakkid25 Wrote:I feel like the mouse controls were a given; it was really just a matter of whether or not they would be optional. I expected they would be, but it was nice to see it confirmed. RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Dragon Lord - May 12th, 2026 (May 11th, 2026, 01:04 AM)Moonface Wrote: Yeah, this is what a lot of people take issue with. Star Fox 64 was a re-telling/re-imagining of Star Fox (SNES), then they remade it Star Fox 64 for the 3DS and then Zero was another re-imagining of a game that was already a re-imagining of a game. Now they are releasing a remake/re-imagining of the game that was a re-imagining of another game that was already re-made and re-imagined. So it's definitely understandable why hardcore Star Fox fans are fatigued. They crave anything new to the series and instead they just get Star Fox 64 re-imagined and remade over and over again. Hopefully this remake will do well enough that they might be more incentivized to do something more/new with the IP. Well, I guess as long as that something new isn't what the "something new" they did when they made Adventure/Assault. While Assault was more of a return to the formula of Star Fox after Adventure went completely off the rails (pun intended), it still wasn't able to catch the interest of most of the fan base after they were kind of lost with Adventure. I fully played through Adventure before and while I don't have strong feelings for it one way or another (it was not memorable in any significant way), I can definitely understand why a lot of the core Star Fox fans hated it and wanted nothing to do with it. Unfortunately it's one of the risks you take when you go in a completely different direction with your genre than what you fans grew to love. The sales numbers of this remake will definitely be telling on whether or not the series has any chance of living beyond this release. I think it has a good chance to sell well, being on the Switch 2 and having the gimmick of the mouse controls with the Joycons. For a shooter game like this, obviously having the precision of mouse-like aiming will always make it feel better (though as someone who hasn't touched a Switch 2, I don't know how smooth the aiming with the joycons in "mouse mode" feels). RE: Nintendo Direct Megathread - Moonface - May 12th, 2026 Oof, I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't given up on the IP not just because of any sales performance stuff, but because how they themselves don't seem to know what to actually do with it and have it work without having to fall back to doing some form of SF64 again. They've given up on other IP of theirs that are either more or less successful than Star Fox is, such as NintenDogs and ARMS respectively.
