Elden Ring: Nightreign (PC+PS5)

And I continue to be hopelessly addicted to this game. I just cannot stop playing it, man.
I can't help but find it funny how polar opposite this is compared to your view of vanilla Elden Ring. XD

The really funny thing about the whole thing is that I had the same thing happen with both Elden Ring and Nightreign -- I had a huge dislike of them at first, especially Nightreign to the point that I refunded it after an hour when it first released, but then went back to them a little later and gave them another try and ended up falling in love with certain aspects of them enough for me to become obsessed with playing them.

Nightreign definitely comes from the multiplayer aspect of it though. When I first went back and tried the game for a second time, I intended to only play solo or with my two close friends who also play it. But about... a week and a half ago I finally decided to dive into random trios to see what it'd be like, and oh man has the game become even more addicting for me now. It's so fun to play in random trios (it's still more fun to play with a friend or two that you can voice chat on Discord with while playing though). Of course in my usual fashion I did end up beating all of the content in the game my first time completely solo, including doing all of the character quests solo (which isn't easy because one of the DLC characters who is a terrible solo character requires beating the DLC boss 'Dreglord' with, and doing that solo was a huge pain in the ass), so once I was doing all of that, then I decided to start trying games with randoms. Actually, I did it twice, as I cleared all of the content on both the PS5 and Steam versions solo, with the only exception is that I did the character quest I mentioned with my friend on PS5, after giving it multiple attempts solo. Not sure how I pulled doing it twice on Steam (I killed it solo once, but realized I didn't start the quest and had to do it again), but I just couldn't get a good enough go at him on the PS5 version to do it solo before my friend and I ended up clearing it together.

Elden Ring: Nightreign (PS5)

My friend and I finally decided to jump into the 'Deep of the Night' mode, which is basically the game on "even harder" mode. There's five depths of Deep of Night (DoN for short), with the game getting progressively harder the further down you go. Depth 5 is pretty much you need to be good enough to beat the bosses without getting hit because everything one-shots you (the only thing that saves you here is getting "Damage Negation at Full HP" passives to avoid being one-shot). We're only in Depth 1 right now, we've done four runs so far. First was a disaster, which wasn't surprising considering it was our first time in DoN, and despite having played the base game a ton, DoN adds a lot of layers of new stuff. There's brand new passives plus negative effect passives that really makes you re-think what weapons you pick up and how you go about building your character. There's new empowered enemies that are harder to beat, but drop more Runes and better loot, so there's a new level to the risk vs reward system. So we knew it might take us a bit to kind of get used to learning the new stuff in it. We did pull off three wins in a row after that though, putting us at 600/1000 points for Depth 2. The real painful thing about DoN is that each win is +200 or +300 points towards the next Depth, but every loss is a flat -600 points. So even though we're on a decent win streak here and only two wins away from Depth 2, we're also just one loss away from being back at 0/1000 points. It's going to be a fun challenge though, and I'm definitely up for trying to git gudder at the game so I can hopefully some day taste the pain that is Depth 5.

Mind Zero(PS Vita)

There's a light at the end of the tunnel! I am in the final dungeon, with just the final boss left to defeat and I'm free of this game! ...Just kidding, I still have the pain of going through a 40-something floor post-game dungeon before I can say I'm done with this game. While the game continues to be absolute dookie, at least by this point in the game you end up getting powerful enough to the point where you can steamroll the bosses. It's actually the normal battles against groups of normal enemies that are the most threatening thing at this point. Kind of weird how the game flips like that, because at the start of the game, normal battles are pretty safe, but boss battles are very rough, but a little past the half-way mark of the game, you start to notice the scale tipping the other way and bosses become the jokes and normal enemies the threats.

Arknights: Endfield (PC)

I'm sadly not playing this game nearly as much as I thought I would. I figured this would be the one gacha game that I would want to play heavily, after having pretty much completely quitting Genshin, Star Rail, Zenless and Wuthering Waves, because Arknights is the one game that I will never give up and will be there until it hits EoS. But I guess the death of my interest in these big open-world gacha games has been enough to really prevent me from hitting this game as hard as I thought I would (well, it's actually Nightreign that has completely broken me out of my gacha trance, once I started to play that and got obsessed with it, I stopped logging into all of the gacha games I was playing except for Arknights, because I was so busy just obsessively playing Nightreign).

I do hope to get myself to finally get through the story and start clearing the content of the game, because I actually do love it. I enjoy the combat much more than Genshin's, and it being Arknights the story, lore and characters are all very interesting to me (especially since some of the characters are clones of characters from Arknights, so it's interesting to learn about why they exist).

dragon quest 2 2d hd (update)

i'm fairly sure i'm at the endgame for this, and not gonna lie, i feel relieved. not because this game is bad or anything (far from it, i'm having a fantastic time here!), but because i was playing the erdrick trilogy essentially back-to-back (so like, dragon quest III first, then jumping into I, then now II). this has been an incredible journey and while i'm glad i did it, i feel like i'm finally at the end part of a super long jrpg spanning several chapters, lol.

still though, the trilogy is an easy recommend from me for anyone that's a dragon quest fan or jrpg fan in general. there's a lot to like here and i think dragon quest 2 is a great game to cap it off with, with a great party that you travel with, and is filled with emotional and funny moments both!

Also, given RE7s age, that would have to be a quest for the modding community, because ain't no way Capcom is gonna go back and do that, even if it is an RE Engine game and would be relatively easy to do.

Edit: Holy Fuck, they exist! I don't know how, but they exist! I actually bought RE7 for 10 bucks a little while ago, not knowing this existed! *Downloads immediately*
Do we ever get to even see what Ethan wears in RE7? As far as I recall there's never a shot of him from a non-first person perspective so the best we see of his top half is the sleeves. Hmm

What do you get for doing quests? I always had the impression Nightreign didn't have unlockable things except for maybe character classes because of having to find things in the world per run. Unsure

@azalea: I don't know how long those games are but I at least know JRPG's aren't short, so I'm impressed you managed to do three of the same series back-to-back without getting burned out before the end. Unless you are and the relief is not having to push through for much longer? Tongue

Nothing like having three runs end in full party wipes and then when I successfully finish the run after that without losing a single cat, I end the day and one of the cats who came back from that trip got into a fight with one of my other cats and died for it. Finally getting a full party through a run only for one of them to instantly die like that is such bullshit but I also know that's just how this game is so I'm not mad. More just this >> Rolleyes

We do; his torso is in fact modeled. He's wearing a button-down shirt and jeans, IIRC. So, you cannot do a straight model swap. But based on the mods I found, his head was found and is able to be placed on him, along with all the other characters you play as (they all pull the same "head disappearing" thing).

Related side note, I've been trying to add a couple mods to RE8, and they are refusing to work. It doesn't seem like it got updated out, because backpatching didn't fix it, and an okder mod I downloaded to test things did work, so I don't understand why the ones I'm trying to implement aren't working.
