Just finished the second chapter. I'm still trying to get used to the style of gameplay this Doom game has because it's very different to Eternal.

I was helping my girlfriend to get past an awkward bit, with some little mouse robots that chase your (cat) character.
I don't think I'll buy this game for myself, though... the controls are quite irksome, and I can see myself getting frustrated!

I don't think I'll buy this game for myself, though... the controls are quite irksome, and I can see myself getting frustrated! Huh, interesting to hear you found the controls irksome. I don't recall having gripes with the control scheme when I played Stray, but then again it may be picking up the game blind during a chase section which can be challenging even when playing the game from the start may have contributed to that feeling for you.
If you or your girlfriend are interested in another cat game of any form, I'd recommend Little Kitty Big City. It has no enemies and is more like a chill sandbox with light puzzle elements.
Slay the Spire (PC)
OMG I finally, finally beat A17 with Defect. I don't even know how many runs it took to finally win but it has to be at least a couple dozen runs or more. I genuinely don't know how any build that isn't focused on frost could win a run at this level, and I'm not looking forward to when I tackle A18 with Defect considering how hard this was. By far the most challenging run I've faced in this game by a mile.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
i've slowly and surely been making my way through this game. normally with r&c games i try to no-life them because this is one of those series that's a big part of my childhood, but this has been a difficult game to do that with. i don't think that's the fault of the game itself so much as my mental state being a bit bleh these days lol so i think getting back into this with fresher eyes would do me better lol
but aside from that, i'm still quite early game. the general plot seems interesting enough, and i'm a big fan of the fact that there's upgrade trees for weapons now, so you can kinda pick which upgrades you get as long as you have the raritanium for it. that said, i'm not sure what the entire point of leveling up weapons are, given this. is it to unlock more spaces on the upgrade tree or what?

Dang I'm trying to remember the weapon upgrade system for that game specifically because I've played almost all of the games and don't wanna mix anything up. I know that upgrade trees or not, leveling up a weapon does increase its damage output and at max level the weapon changes entirely i.e. a gun that has a single barrel will have three barrels at max level.
As for the game itself, I remember finding it better than some of the games that came before it but I still don't think it manages to hit the highs of the PS2 era of the series.

Yay! I just beat A19 with Watcher, which now means all of my characters are up to A20! Surprisingly Watcher only took me less than 5 tries to beat A19 with, whereas the other characters were taking me upwards of 20+ attempts. x.x

Civilization VI, which I'm currently playing online with my sister (I'm playing as Canada, and she's playing as Japan).
I had a bit of a shaky start: I was surrounded by barbarians. But, now that I've swept most of those away, I've built the Great Bath; founded a second city; and am looking to expand further!

Genshin Impact (PS5, PC/Phone)
Mainly doing dailies, did try out the Stygian Onslaught on my PS5 account, got the primogem awards for beating the Hard difficulty, but couldn't properly do Fearless difficulty thanks to it changing having any teams for each of the three bosses, to having teams that can only be used for one boss only, as I need my Arlecchino team to deal with the first two bosses but can't now, and did try different teams but to no avail. There is one setup I think might work for the first boss I've yet to try though, so I can hopefully make my Arlecchino team take on the second boss.
On my NA I pulled and got the most recent 5* character Skirk as I was on a guarantee for my next 5*, and built her up.
Wuthering Wave (PC/Phone)
Same just doing dailies, I did play through some of Septimont and it could be my most favourite area of the game so far, and hoping to pull for Lupa next Saturday.
Zenless Zone Zero (PC/Phone)
Have been playing but a bit less than the other two, half losing interest but I do still enjoy playing as my Silver Soldier Anby and Lighter.

More Civilization VI.
Today's session didn't go well TBH. I disconnected for a turn - and then came back to find the AI had done my turn for me, and messed a bunch of things up. In particular, it had changed my government type - and then, when I changed it back, I got 3 turns of anarchy, which crippled my empire during that time.
I did capture a Korean city - but unfortunately, I'm struggling to maintain the required loyalty to keep hold of it >_< .

So Title Update 2 dropped yesterday (it being midnight when I post this), and with it came two new monsters, and one of those monsters now has netted me my first ever solo quest failure from deaths alone (I think I failed one other quest solo from failing to capture a target, but I can't recall). I am rightly annoyed by this, especially when I busted my ass trying to beat it and got taken out at the last second by a cheap shot! Welp, that's an ignoble way to end the nights hunt!
