Yes, it's the most horrible time of the year for retail workers (at least in the US), because the Christmas music is now in the playlist of songs that endlessly play on repeat. May you enjoy knowing Santa is watching you and that if it snows, let it snow, and all the classics of this time. Keep your sanity intact out there, fellow workers! It's not truly Christmas radio hell until Mariah Carey shows up, and I've actually not heard any of her songs on the radio during Christmas for the last two years or so which feels so weird to me.

*massive sigh of relief*
Yesterday was my senior seminar exhibition (hence my lack of being online at all yesterday) which was pretty much the last major thing for my degree, and it's finally done. I have one more minor project to turn in for another class and then, if no more bureaucratic garbage comes my way, I'll finally be free and have my degree.

I got one more shift before my "weekend" begins...as I work both days of the actual weekend. Hope things are good for all.
Ah that's great, Moony. So close now to the end, finally.

So, ever since coming to the west coast of Florida, I have been plauged with piss poor internet. I'm talking single-digit Megs/second. Combined with poor signal strength, and I have not been a happy gamer. Until a few days ago, I just thought it was the fact that I was isolated in the corner of the house, far away from the main router. But then, the main router I was connected to died, and after a little digging, I found out my main problem.
I was using USB.
See, none of the desktops I've had for a long while actually had a Wi-Fi adapter built in, so I've been running on USB adapters because I was cheap and didn't want to break the computer trying to get it in. Welp, no more. I bought a proper, PCie Wi-Fi adapter, and after having to plug it in twice because I thought the Bluetooth was a necessary part of it, I tested my speed.
Bam! 400 Megs/second down and up.
A Christmas fucking miracle, I'm sure! It's amazing what using the correct hardware can actually do, isn't it?

No, I was not plugged in. My main computer didn't even have a plug for an ethernet connection, and the new house doesn't have ethernet at all! But I guess I was closer to the router than before? Technically, I was directly above it in my room at the old place.
So, I was watching a video reviewing the year, and I have a question to ask: was anyone going to tell me about the Albanian AI-generated minister with 83 babies, or was I supposed to just find that out on my own?

Probably not necessary but because it reminded me of it, if I recall correctly I have a USB Ethernet port for my Switch dock which works really well. Useful for stuff that you want to hook up that lacks an Ethernet port.
As for that Albanian minister, that's the first I'm hearing of that too. I was expecting it to just be someone used AI to generate an image of a living, actual minister and gave them 83 babies as some weird flex until I opened that Wikipedia page. I can't believe a country would assign any government position to an AI and that such a thing somehow didn't seem to be everywhere on the Internet when it happened to the point you'd be challenged not to discover it.
Meanwhile, I've been sitting in my car since 4:50am in the parking lot of my work because for the second time this week no bastard has shown up to open the store. Irks me more because today would usually be my day off, and I have a delivery to work that I'll now be greatly behind on because fuck knows when someone will turn up. At least I'm being paid to sit here I guess.

I suppose I hope you got in, and that you don't have to push yourself too hard to do that delivery. Although knowing roughly what your store is like towards your department, you will have to so the frozen section isn't too far behind next shift. Bleh.

So the person who was supposed to open the store today opted to not view their schedule, so we didn't get into the store until about 6:15am when the produce manager turned up, who luckily had kept their store key in their car.
I walked in to three pallets of stuff to work and only got through one. I already knew I wasn't getting to the other two today so didn't bother trying to kill myself to try and get to them.
That all got topped off by my drive home taking 50 minutes because apparently everybody wants to do road work on a Friday morning and close all but one lane.
