I swear my university is trying to put me into an early grave from stress. This is the third time in as many months that out of the blue they decide to pull the rug out from under me and tell me something I'm doing isn't valid to graduate after telling me it was. Right now I'm depressed about it but come Monday I'm going scorched earth because I'm over this shit. Errm

I just came from my chemo, and I had to get some fluids on top of the usual meds, which meant I had to stay longer than usual. I also go back this coming Thursday to see if I'm still dehydrated. So, yea, for my head cold making me more dehydrated than I thought. So, it's not been fun. I'm on some antibiotics and my doctor swabbed me to see if I have covid/flu which came back negative. So definitely a nasty cold. But hey at least I have an excuse to rest and stay home. (<_< I guess haha.)

@Moonface: Fricking heck not again, why the hell can't they just let it slide, what's the point in not letting someone who clearly can graduate, do so? Give them what they deserve, Moony. XD

@queenzelda: Hope you get better soon, at least not covid but still not good to go through. Rest easy indeed.

Was in pain all day yesterday, in my chest area. I've had that pain before and took a strong painkiller which usually works, but didn't this time. I still managed to work all the way through my shift and an extra hour to boot, yet the pain persisted after. Probably from stress again. I did cook myself a really good pasta though. Slept it off and was fine this morning, not needing the painkiller like I did Thursday and yesterday morning.
Tough shift today being on my own on a Saturday until 1pm when a colleague was due in, quite silly to have them in when I'm heading off. Whatever, I did almost lose it but made myself cool off. Resting before tomorrow's shift which should go much smoother.

Well, last week was good Smile . Had a lovely visit to a Japanese restaurant with a couple of friends (I had tuna sashimi, bang bang cauliflower, and sushi tacos), then Lando Norris won the Formula One World Championship on Sunday, which I was very pleased to see Grin !

As for this week, I've been at work for the first three days, which was quite hectic: I've recently got on board with a new project (as in, new to me: the project itself has been going for over a year now), and the code is all unfamiliar to me and rather complicated >_< . Fortunately, I'm slowly finding my way around it Smile .

However, I'll be off work for the rest of the week, since my girlfriend is coming to stay with me Smile . We're not quite sure what we'll do yet, but we'll probably go to see a film at least one day, and go out for a nice Christmas meal somewhere (since I didn't get one from work this year!)

Yeesh, 21st of December now. Today's been the busiest day so far out of the ones I've worked recently, I can predict it'll be busy tomorrow and 23rd to be the absolute busiest, the 24th tends to randomly not be as busy as them from past experience so we'll see. Luckily my hours so far have just been 8 as it was previously 3 10s and 3 8 hours, though I may have to stay longer Tuesday so we'll see, tomorrow is a shorter shift for me regardless of how busy it is, as I was meant to have one day off.

Other than work not much else, my siblings and I are finally going to hear results from my Dad's test results on the 7th January. I'd say fingers crossed, but I'm pretty much expecting some type of bad news anyway. He's still at his own home for now, at least.

I had a lovely time with my girlfriend last weekend Smile . We went to see Wicked for Good (which I enjoyed, albeit not quite as much as the first film); had a lovely Christmas meal (I had slow-cooked lamb with vegetables, while she had a porchetta roast); and visited a nearby manor house which had some Christmas-themed exhibitions Smile .

Yesterday, my sister came home for Christmas - and I'm sure we'll be going out for another Christmas meal of our own at some point. But today, I went to a board games group, where I played Cubitos (a push-your-luck racing game where you roll a bunch of dice to determine your actions, and can continue rolling those that come up blank until you either choose to stop or roll all blank ones, in which case you go bust), and Harmonies (a puzzle game where you're trying to build habitats for animals, by arranging habitat tokens in specified patterns). Since it was the last session before Christmas, we had some treats and nibbles, including Party Rings (which were quite nostalgic for me - and which I was surprised to find didn't contain dairy, thus making them safe for me!)

Ugh, I've started to lose count of how many days in a row I've felt unwell in some way or another. x.x

Right after graduation back on December 12 I got ill with some sort of bad cold, which ran through to Christmas but I was still suffering from a bad cough until New Year. Then it's been just suffering with bad headaches or nausea for most of 2026 so far which has made it hard to be able to do much of anything. Yesterday I think I slept for all but maybe 5 hours of the day at best. It's like my body decided "Hey, we don't have school to worry about anymore so now we can just endure all of the suffering we've been storing in the background" or something. Suffer

Geez once you're finally out of the long grind of uni, you'd think it's time for the body to ease off from the pressure and stress, but nah just wants to do the opposite. Let him relax, c'mon!

Plz get better soon, Moony. 🙏

Got results for my Dad yesterday. It's not as bad as we thought it was going to be, unlike what his sister had, and she was well into the bad condition she had at my Dad's age now. It's still possible he could get it later, so thankfully not the case right now. It's just he's been pushing away his small social circle for no real reason, carelessness and other things. Ah I won't go into further details, but did get annoying and worrying at times.

Work is whatever, first rather easy day I had in a while, though tomorrow might be different. Why do we need 300+ cauliflower and they're all for Saturday to sell by?!

Probably my body running on adrenaline or some bollocks where it was pushing through any negative stuff until it didn't need to anymore. Shrug

I don't know what the test was for but maybe he was pushing people away because if the test outcome had been negative there would be less people affected by it? I dunno, just my kneejerk armchair therapist reaction to why someone would try to distance themselves from people if they think something bad may happen to them. Unsure

Ah yes, a highly sought after British staple for the second week of a new year; cauliflower. Rolleyes

It was for dementia, and the pushing away begun way before he knew about us getting him to be tested. There was a lot of very poor judgements on his part.

Ha, I'll get to see how much of that is left over tomorrow morning, there was a crap ton of it when I finished my shift today. We could've closed off the veg and only sell that, and they still wouldn't go fast enough. Granted some had questionable quality, if only our new system allowed us to manually type in the reduced price, or have the missing quantity option, we could have them down to 10p instead of 60-odd p.

My sister was still at home this week. Originally, she wasn't going to be (she planned to go home last Sunday) - but, illness forced her to stay at home then. It was nice to have her here for another week - although, of course, the reasons for it weren't nice at all Sad !

It really does feel like Christmas is over at this point, and we're back to reality. The Christmas tree (and other decorations) came down on Tuesday; I ate the last of my Christmas sweets on Friday; and my sister finally went home earlier today. There is still a bit of Christmas food left, but I imagine that won't last long!

On the plus side, I did arrange a visit with my girlfriend on Saturday (both of us got cheap rail tickets to a city roughly halfway between us in the Great British Rail Sale), so I do have something to look forward to Smile .

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. Sad For the push away part I was viewing it from a perspective of he knew something was off even before anything about tests came up, especially since I didn't know if he was the one to initially bring up doing a test because of feeling off in some way that reminded him of his sister. Kinda like when people know a certain illness is common in their family so can spot signs of it within themselves easier than usual.

I can't actually think of when Christmas felt over for me this year. Probably a couple of days after it since we never put up any decorations this year. Tongue

I hope your day out on Saturday was enjoyable! ^_^
