How Was Your Day/Week?

Had a couple days off work for booked holiday, but went back on Saturday and Sunday, overtime tomorrow. Both the working days I had to nap again, I really don't want to make a habit of napping.

Been bowling a few times, and got another bowling session booked for today. I'm making it a mission to get a year average of 100+, as I went through my past two years since we've been bowling somewhat regularly. In 2023 I played 30 games (one not counted as I didn't record that score), and had a garbage average of 59. 2024 I played 94 games, and that year's average was 89, still not good. This year I'm at 99 average though so I'm hoping to finally enter 100 average, and also hope it goes beyond that.
My best score from 2023 is 116, 2024 is 148, although my best this year is 141. I gotta do it, man!

...of being involved in a car accident.

Was sitting at the light outside my house and the person behind me thought the light had turned green and went forward into the back of me. My car doesn't have any visible damage so hopefully everything is actually fine but dang, it finally happened to me in some form I guess.

Darn, well at least it wasn't you at fault and that your car didn't take too much damage. Surely yes the person should be prepared to go, but still have to wait for the car in front to actually move before you put that foot down on the accelerator. Yeesh.

I could've posted this before, about my bowling session last week on the Monday, but I did beat my previous best of 148, to 153 which was finally over the half way mark of the maximum. Pleased, although my last few shots were abysmal. I did get a spare in turn 9, boosted the score on the first bowl after but I missed the spare for the extra bowl, so I could've entered the 160's. I should get an even better score soon, hopefully shouldn't take a year like this time.

Also worked for 7 days straight, was meant to be 5 days with two single days off on Wednesday and Monday to three days off but had to cover those days as well. My section leader was off for a week on holiday, another colleague off for a week from doctor's recommendation, and the third colleague had Thursday-Sunday booked off because it's a usual thing they do for their birthday. So that was fun. I at least got help, the only days that were really busy were Friday/Saturday. Plus there was a bit move around Sunday into Monday on my department, plus new system into our electronic equipment for scanning and printing even.

I mean if I didn't tell you my car had been rear-ended you'd never know it had happened in the first place. I'm glad I was at the front of the line though because she did hit me enough to move me forward a little bit and it would've been very close to being enough distance to bump a car in front of me.
I don't know if she was but I assume she was looking at her phone to think the light had turned green when none of the lights facing us were green (I'd maybe get seeing the green to go straight and mistaking it for the green to turn).

Jeez, so were you the only person on the department during your shifts outside of whenever they sent help over?

Thinking of cover, my coworker is off this weekend and we both thought I was going to be covering her today (Friday is one of our truck days), only to find they don't want me in today. I have no clue if they're putting anyone on my department today or if I get to go in tomorrow at 5am to a total shitshow, but if I do I'm only scheduled until 10am and I'm not staying late to fix stuff because management made a bad schedule.

Oh wow, I thought you might've gotten minor damage, or perhaps a tiny dent, but you did say not visible in your first post about it. Yes, good you were at the front of the queue.

Yes I was, including leaving the shopfloor unattended whilst I worked flower bouquets, as I'm away from the produce section, though it's not too far, and racking away both of ours back ups. Had go to the shopfloor every so often to make sure trays weren't on the floor and stuff were easily accessible for customers to grab. Funny how after all the moving around it's been easier than we used to be. I usually have dollies to work taller than myself but it's wait to shoulder high. Though could be down the new ways of doing things like perhaps delivery hasn't properly worked out what we need. I mean we didn't have any Broccoli for overs to put out for a while for some reason. Also we aren't allowed to change counts apparently anymore and can't check what's coming in or not either. Doesn't help I haven't learned the new system yet either, the managers and section leaders are still getting to grips with too.

Oh I had a full truck waiting for me because nobody touched my department on the Friday I wasn't scheduled to cover, and it took me until Monday to clear everything out of the cooler. All I got for my efforts was questioning why I didn't just go in on Friday anyway instead of letting everything go to hell in a handbasket and whenever I say it isn't my problem to address schedule problems I get told I don't care enough.
Like, no it isn't that I don't care, I just don't waste my time and energy on things that are above my pay grade. If management can't manage right, it isn't my problem to fix it. I can't wait to see how my store reacts when I hopefully leave it like a bad habit at the start of 2026.

I just noted to avoid peoples that only always call me to work for them for free, especially anyone that show signs of past disrespects.

Waste my time helping them and not really learn anything useful in long term, because they always tries to pressure me to fix their problems.
Now they just bombard my messaging apps with slanderous spams, I'm still screenshot everytime they posts.

Man, bullhonkey to those who say that. If people think I don't care enough, just let me show you what actually happens when I'm really the one not caring enough.  Yes they'd be crying and wondering damn we actually had it good with that guy, now we're fooked.

Doing whatever I guess. I'm starting to do walks and runs, joined an app called Strava to record and log the exercises. I am shite and running, but aim to get my body into form to be able to run (actually jog but it's still a good pace), at least a good amount. Last week managed my first run at 14:39 minutes of an estimated 13-18 minute run over 2.23km, I set myself at Intermediate level with the options being Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Pro. So I'm assuming that affects estimated time, so I'm somehow alright for that level, even though I struggled hard and my foot/ankle joint and front of my thigh legs ached the day after, foot joint continued the second day after. I have ankle supports which I didn't wear, I will next time. I'm already good at walking of course.

Today went to movies with my Dad and sister. My Dad is...well wasn't problematic just, we definitely need to help him with things.

The last week of my life (well, two weeks, actually), have been pure hell. Got fired from my job of the last four years, been struggling with that the last few days. Thankfully I had a decently significant amount of money in my 401K that I was able to withdraw and that will help me get by for a while. Not that I plan to stay out of work long-term, but it does give me a little cushion to at least get my mental back in order and think about what I want to do next in life before I jump into another job.

So I've just been spending the last few days trying to find things to take my mind off of everything and just try to overcome this feeling of emptiness I've been left with. It sucks, but unfortunately sometimes life just loves to suck.

I've had a great week off work with my family .

First of all, I visited Drayton Manor amusement park with my girlfriend last Saturday. Didn't get to go on all the rides, but did enjoy the ones we did go on (even if one of them - a large flume called "Stormforce 10" - left us very wet!). But we have a free return visit in October, so we can go on the ones we missed the first time .

Then, I went on a trip to Liverpool on Monday. It was mostly a shopping trip, but I didn't get anything too exciting: probably the main thing I got was some coloured pencils, for drawing F1 cars! It was still nice to get out of the house, though .

Then, on Wednesday, I saw the Formula One movie. Was rather amusing, even if it didn't remotely follow anything that actually happened (or indeed, plausibly *could* happen) in real-world F1 .

Tomorrow is my sister's birthday. I have an endoscopy in the morning, to see if reintroducing wheat into my diet has worked. That's obviously not going to be much fun - but once that's done, we'll be trying out an escape room, which should be good !

Done work, then off normally for three days, haven't had a normal three days off in a while. Down to 3 people again on my department as the 4th has gone on a course, so they're seasonal now. Joy. Luckily know a bit more about our new system, though that doesn't make it any better it's still a useless system so far.

Spent time again with my Dad yesterday with my sister, ate out and watched a 1976 film my sister had on DVD called Network. It was...something. A fictional movie, but if modernised it would definitely be mirroring our current times. Why did we watch it, I don't know. None of us decided to stop it strangely. Played a card game after.

Today a did a short 5 minute run, nothing special really but it was a good to see that pace I could be consistently running at...well jogging. Has been raining today, so I didn't do any more.

Yeah, never work for free unless it's possibly for something like maybe a charity where doing the work for free can be viewed as a form of a donation or something. Oh yeah, if I truly didn't care the difference in my work output would be as noticeable as when I'm on a vacation. Hell, there are times I would love to actually do more but I have to draw the line in the sand and not do it because putting more time/effort into my job means I'm likely sacrificing time I need for college and/or resting. Just not skipping my breaks takes a lot of willpower for me because it is 30 minutes of more time I have to work, but it means I'm not taking a break to rest and eat plus management dislikes us skipping breaks in the first place.

What movie did you go to see? Assuming you haven't put it in the Last Thing Watched thread and I've not noticed yet...

Dang, I'm sorry about your job. Was it a case of being laid off or did they actually find some reason to fire you? I don't recall you ever mentioning a time of getting into contention with your manager for things you did wrong so I'm just a little surprised. o.o

Do you know of anything that has happened in Formula One that you think would've translated fine to a movie format?



The last two weeks for me have been a real pain, not really from anything going on but more that my Adderall wasn't from my normal manufacturer, and it wasn't as effective as what I usually get so trying to focus or not even be utterly exhausted to do stuff was really difficult. Even when I wanted to do something I'd struggle to have the ability to do it no matter what it was. Luckily I have my normal manufacturer again so hopefully things will get better for me on that front and I can actually be more productive with my days instead of being a vegetable.

@Moonface I did put what I watched in Last Thing Watched topic, Jurassic World: Rebirth. I put in there it was pretty "meh" really.

Dang a different Adderall or equivalent to it wasn't as good as the usual one you take. Was it prescribed because they were out of the usual one, or were they trying you on a different type/dosage?

Weekend shifts by myself again. Today's went well as there was help from nights doing the flowers and nuts areas of my department, so I didn't have to spend time on them, which would have set me back by a lot. Doubt I'll have that help tomorrow morning, but at least no customers until 9:30am.
