My classic childhood blunder is my use of the Master Ball. It wasn't clear to me that there was only one (1) of these things in existence, and I blame that solely on the fact that 1) this was my first Pokémon game and 2) this game included different ball types a la apricorn conversion, which you CAN make more and more of. I'm curious what the dialogue was from Elm upon receiving it...

Professor Elm Wrote:
"The Master Ball is the best! It's the ultimate Ball! It'll catch any Pokémon without fail. It's given only to recognized Pokémon researchers. I think you can make much better use of it than I can, <player>!"

Yeah, idk, maybe I don't blame my younger self as much for thinking there might be more than just that one based on that dialogue. The only exclusivity indication it gives is that it specifically says "ball" and not "balls". Otherwise, to me it reads as "you can only obtain these once you're very good at the game".

Anyway I used it on a really tough Ursaring I was trying to catch but failing to. LOL

Binding of Isaac has once again reminded me of this thread and I'm starting to think it's the game I make the most mistakes in by a mile, despite having over 1300 hours in it.

Started today's daily run, only to completely neglect it was with Judas who starts with one heart and walk into the curse room that was next to the spawn room. For those unaware, a curse room has a spiked door which forces you to take damage to walk through it, so I took half a heart of damage going in, and there was no health inside so I had no choice but to die on the doorway back out. Lasted all of maybe 20 seconds for that daily run, which isn't the first time I've done that by playing like I'm braindead but it is the first time I remembered to share it. ROFL

I, the Philosophical Sponge of Marbles, send you on a quest for the Golden Chewing Gum of the Whoop-A-Ding-Dong Desert under the sea!

The first time I played The Battle for Wesnoth, I used Horsemen against pretty much everything, because I liked the fact that, on the player's turn, they did twice as much damage as usual (at the cost of taking twice as much damage - but of course, that doesn't matter if you kill your enemy in one hit, or if you're attacking ranged units with a weak melee attack!).

Turns out, this strategy completely falls apart as soon as you encounter pikemen, which: a) have piercing weapons which are strong against horsemen, and b) have long enough weapons to always get the first strike, even on the enemy's turn...
