Didn't realise that at first. Man, changing the OST is such a mistake to make. Don't know what the reason is, surely there shouldn't be a problem to include it. Should've done what the Switch Paper Mario TTYD did and have both the new and original OST to choose between.

As a correction to my prior post about the soundtrack being done entirely by the Origins/Legends composer, I since learned that the original composer has passed away, and according to a clip in the History section of the game that same composer was working on remastering the tracks prior to their death. Anything that wasn't finished was seemingly picked up by the composer for Origins/Legends. I'm curious if the passing of the original composer caused issues with trying to secure the rights to the original soundtrack?

Rayman Legends Retold | Reveal Trailer
Revealed during today's State of Play presentation, Rayman Legends Retold reimagines the critically acclaimed platformer, enhanced with stunning 3D visuals and an immersive new story leading to a mysterious new realm. Play the adventure solo or in up to four‑player couch co‑op, jam through all‑new musical stages, saddle up for epic dragon rides, and more!
Rayman Legends Retold releases on October 1, 2026.
Okay, I wasn't remotely interested in a remake of Rayman Legends originally because I thought it was just gonna be a 1:1 remake, but this being a reimagining has made me do a complete 180. I wish in this day and age we could've got online co-op even if with only two people because that's the one thing I really disliked about Origins and Legends not having, but that's the only complaint I have with this initial reveal.

I was skeptical at first too, thought it would unfortunately be a simple remake. Switching to playing from side scroller to behind the characters for 3D platforming helps and more of a story to follow helps boost this.
Though yes I agree, it needs online co-op as well as couch co-op. Plenty of other games have both, so just why not here too?

My guess is that maybe the musical levels are too time dependent to function well online, but as a result online as a whole is just excluded to stop issues of splitting lobbies whenever a musical level is encountered and then having to remake them. The only alternative is using a program called Parsec which can make local multiplayer games playable online, which is okay but there's still the setback of only the host making game progress rather than everyone making it.
Also, I don't know why Ubisoft didn't include this in the announcement given it's pretty notable, but all copies of Rayman Legends Retold include Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition for free, which features the following changes and improvements:
RayWiki Wrote:The game is set to feature improved textures that support 4K resolution, 60 FPS gameplay, and a number of new features. The game will be included with any edition of Rayman Legends Retold for free, but it will also be made available as a standalone purchase.
The enhanced edition will feature 60 relics and two mosaics, collectibles that were originally exclusive to the PlayStation Vita version of Rayman Origins. There will also be 39 achievements across all platforms, including 10 new Ubisoft Connect ones, 18 new skins and 50 brand new photoboards.
The game will feature new quality-of-life features, such as the ability to skip cutscenes and speed up the end-of-level sequence, a running toggle, control remapping, and vibration and haptics that vary depending on the character that the player uses.
The enhanced edition will also feature new accessibility options to make the game easier. Upon completing a level, Murfy will be made available to point out any remaining collectibles with a sound cue, making it easier for players to find anything they missed. Two new hearts are also being added: a gold heart, which returns from Rayman Fiesta Run and protects the player from two hits, and a diamond heart that defends them from infinite damage. A new Fairy Blessing can also be activated, granting the heroes free flight and the ability to damage enemies as they move through them, thus making them nearly invincible.
Finally, the Snoring Tree will be expanded to feature over 70 pieces of concept art that are unlocked by collecting Lum Medals and a dedicated area for the heroes to browse through and take pictures with the standees that they have unlocked. Credit: RayWiki
