Happy New Year, everyone! '25 is over, did you get anything you hoped to do at the start of the year, and what are your hopes for this year if any?

I hoped to get back into doing art, weightlifting and get a car. I did none of those things, so really all that rolls over into this year. My '25 was rather lame overall, and there were times I wasn't taking care of myself, losing weight, not eating properly and started to get symptoms from that. So I started actually buying more food for myself then noticed a change back to relative normality I guess. I've put on some weight back on and close on being the heaviest I've ever been. It's not much, just 8st 8 I got to. XD I was dropping back into the 7st range earlier. Still have an eternal goal to get into 9st, but no more than 10, so in the middle really. Weightlifting should help. I should go back to a schedule of some sort but I've not been good at following one.

I do want this year to be a more positive turn around of getting stuff done.

Happy new year, everyone!

My main hope for this year is to make progress with moving in with my girlfriend. I don't know if we'll actually have moved in together by the end of the year (it is a big thing: one of us will have to move across the country!), but I am hoping we'll at least have a serious plan in place. (We keep talking about it, then putting it off when other things come up!)

You looking to buy a place for both of you or is renting on the table too?

For me this year is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to figuring out goals. Some stuff is clear for me, like getting my passport renewed and actually making a trip back to England finally as I've yet to go back since moving to the U.S. in 2017. Everything was in place to go visit in 2020 but then Covid happened. Rolleyes On the other hand, having graduated and got my degree finally, you'd think the goal would be to simply get a job in the field; however, @ShiraNoMai and I have always had a hope of starting our own graphic design business at some point and she seems set on moving forward with that this year, so if I were to get a full time job it would make it impossible for me to play my part in that. My intent would be get a part time graphic design job to gain experience and such while then doing the personal business version of it alongside it, but that could change depending how things work out.
Besides that, now that I have the time to do it I do want to get the house organized and start finally hanging some of the artwork that has been living in a box since we moved into our house, which was 2019 I think? ROFL

Well, ideally, I'd look at buying a place, since I have a decent amount of money saved up now. But I'm not completely averse to renting Smile .

Sucks that COVID ruined your last attempt to visit England, but I hope you get to do so soon Smile . The country's still basically intact: we're not on fire and completely falling apart, unlike what certain foreign media sources like to claim Tongue !

Best of luck with your business too, should you start that at some point!

2025 has been a success in some areas, and.... well, a work-in-progress in others. i think most importantly it's been a year where i've actually felt some sort of accomplishment for the first time in a VERY long time, and i hope to keep that going this year, which it seems like it is. this year is having a rough start for me though, and it looks like that's going to last up until May or so. once i figure everything out around April/May, i should more or less be set for the rest of the year, but the stress up until that part is what's not exactly fun. u_u

@azalea I'm sorry to hear that you have something negative going on for a few more months, but at least it seems to be a certainty it will only last for that long. ^_^

Azalea, hoping you can pull through the grueling portion of the year and get to the good part. Screw stress.

Also should've posted this earlier, but that's a great idea for both you and Shira to go into your own graphic design business. Hope that starts up well when you do set it up and such.

A little on me again, I did reach a new weight of 8st11 at one point recently. Got lots to sort out at my home, especially the room I have my storage plus TV, games and such in and turn it into a better looking room.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with something difficult Sad .

I wish you all the best with it, and I hope things improve later in the year!

thank you all!! the first half of this year will be a challenge to navigate for sure, but the good news is that it is temporary, so at the very least the worst should be over in the few months.

hopefully.

Firm belief in ya, azalea! Sending ya all the luck and energy to endure. It worked out last year, let's continue the trend this year Grin

So far this year is indeed turning out to be moving by at a rapid pace. The good news is that it seems most of the people in my life are in much better straights than they were at the lowest points last year (respective to them), so that's been very much keeping my spirits up and motivation moving along. I'd say it's been starting out on the right foot, at the very least--no major L's to report on (no jinxes, please universe!). I just wish I could stop the clock, really. Life is moving too fast. I feel like I can never catch up to it, despite having "all the time in the world" to do things. It definitely feels worse than ever before since leaving my job. Not sure if it's just the pace of the world and events happening, or something on my end? Regardless, I need to really keep moving and don't let it discourage me.

Also learning about starting a business is really mind-numbing, particularly in the "information overload" way. Starting from no knowledge is rough, but it has to be done. Nooo Sweat
